The following is a list of classes that prepare students to take Fire Department tests as individually described below.

STA GUARANTY: Should you fail to pass the test the first time, you may retake the course for free. (One time offer only).

The class size is never more then 11 students, which provides for more personalized training. The group will learn not just how to take the test and cover material on the test, but also gain knowledge on how the two systems work.

Students will receive a reference letter for the Fire Department with recommendations from STA for taking the test.

Note: The cost of these classes is for class and materials. This does not include FDNY fees of $25.00 to take each test.

Course Number F1095 (Application - PDF file) Sprinkler and Standpipe

Preparation for FDNY Certificate of Fitness for F-10 Sprinkler and F-95 Standpipe, first day of class Thursday April 17th, 2nd day of class is April Tuesday 22, last day is Thursday April 24.

Total of 9 hrs. Total Cost is $85.00 for members and $155.00 for non members.

Students at course completion may take with confidence the New York Fire Department test for Certificate of Fitness for Sprinkler (city main supply) and / or Sprinkler (gravity tank).

These two Fire Dept Certificates are important for most New York City Superintendents.

The class is broken into three sections, 3 hrs each. If students need more time, extra time will be given without extra cost.

Students will be provided with the necessary forms they can use on the job to log all records of inspections as required by the Fire Department.

Course Number P99 (Application - PDF file) #6 oil burners

Preparation for FDNY Certificate of Fitness in P-99 Low Pressure Oil Burner is, first day of class Wednesday April 16, last day of class is Wednesday April 23.

Total of 6 hours. Total Cost is $65.00 for members and $135.00 for non members.

Students at course completion may take with confidence the New York Fire Department test for Certificate of Fitness for Low Pressure Oil Burner.

This Fire Department Certificate is important for most New York City Superintendents who are operating, or may operate in the future, heavy oil (number 6 oil) burners.

The class is broken into two sections, 3 hours each. If students need more time, extra time will be given without extra cost.

Students will be provided with the necessary forms they can use on the job to log all records of inspections as required by the Fire Department.

Course Number W26 (Application - PDF file)

Preparation for FDNY Certificate of Fitness for W-26 Smoke Detector Maintenance and Inspections.

Total of 6 hours. Total Cost is $55.00 for members and $110.00 for non members.

Students at course completion may take with confidence the New York Fire Department test for Certificate of Fitness for maintenance and testing of smoke detectors.

The course will give you a better understanding on how detectors work, the proper place for installation and maintenance required.  

The class is broken into two sections, 3 hours each. If students need more time, extra time will be given without extra cost.

Students will be provided with the necessary forms they can use on the job to log all records of inspections as required by the Fire Department.

Course Number G35 (Application - PDF file)

Preparation for FDNY Certificate of Fitness to operate Air Compressors – G-35.

Total of 3 hours. Total Cost is $55.00 for members and $110.00 for non members.

Students at course completion may take with confidence the New York Fire Department test for Certificate of Fitness for maintenance and testing of smoke detectors.

The course will give you a better understanding on how air compressors work, the proper place for installation, maintenance required as well as how to operate the air compressor safely.

The class is a one session class of 3 hours. If students need more time, extra time will be given without extra cost.

Students will be provided with the necessary forms they can use on the job to log all records of inspections as required by the Fire Department.

Course Number F63W66 (Application - PDF file)

FDNY Certificate of Fitness for servicing Fire Extinguishers F-62 and W-66.

Total of 6 hours. Total Cost is $55.00 for members and $110.00 for non members.

Students at course completion may take with confidence the New York Fire Department test for Certificate of Fitness for servicing portable fire extinguishers.

The course will give you an overview of the classifications of fires, fire extinguishers, and restrictions on use of certain fire extinguishers.

This course for the most part covers inspection, maintenance and recharging of portable fire extinguishers.

The class is broken into two sections, 3 hours each. If students need more time, extra time will be given without extra cost.
