frequently asked questions  ask a question  questions by category

ASK YOUR QUESTION (Read the FAQs page and the Categorized questions first!) Do you have a question you'd like to share with the building maintenance community, and get an answer online? Enter your question in the form below and we'll post it and wait for an answer from an Association member who has experience in the field in question.

If you're having trouble using the form, send an email with all the information asked for in the form. We'll post the question along with the answer(s) we receive right here.

Also, please note that by sending a question you are signing up for our monthly newsletter by email, from which you can unsubscribe at any time by sending a blank email to GlenStoltz@gmail.com with 'Unsubscribe Newsletter' in the subject line.

Before you post your question, however, take some time to do your homework.

1. Don't abbreviate words, don't use ALL CAPS, and do use spell check before sending. If you choose not to do so, your question may not be used at all.

2. Don't ask multiple questions in one post. Try to consolidate multiple questions into the most important one that you want answered, or split up your questions into two or more postings.

3. Read the FAQs Page -- here we have posted some of the most often-asked questions, so that you, and we, don't waste each other's time repeating them.

4. Read the questions and answers already posted -- your question may already have been asked and answered in the past. You can also browse the questions by category.

5. Go to the City of New York's official website at www.nyc.gov. This is a very comprehensive site, with copious amounts of information available to the visitor, and many ways to access it, including a great search engine. Peruse the site and again, MANY of your questions will be answered there.

6. Check out Tenant.Net, an online resource for residential tenants, with lots of information and bulletin boards where you can ask questions relevant to tenant / landlord issues.

7. While we won't always be equipped to immediately give you the exact answer, we will try to steer you in the right direction so that you can find the correct answer on your own. When that happens, we'd love it if you would repay us by writing back to us so we can post the answer you found for your question.

8. Use Google or any of the many other good internet search engines to research your question before you ask it here.

9. For multi-family housing specific questions, see our Housing Links Page here.

10. We cannot and do not answer legal questions. Consult a lawyer for those.
